Work at Camp

Lead, Learn, Laugh & Love at Holston Center Summer Camp!

Ready for a summer that’s equal parts adventure, community, and purpose? At Holston Center, you’ll make a real difference in kids’ lives while gaining skills, friendships, and memories you’ll carry forever.

Why Work at Holston?

  • Make an impact. Mentor campers entering grades 1–12 in faith, fun, and outdoor living.

  • Grow professionally. Receive training in leadership, group facilitation, behavior management, and small-group Bible studies. Earn Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification (included) and even opt for lifeguard certification at no cost.

  • Earn & save. Pay starts at $250/week with end-of-summer bonuses. We provide room, meals, laundry, Wi-Fi, and a staff lounge, so your paycheck is yours to keep.

  • Adventure every day. Onsite activities include paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, hiking trails, zip lining, and more. Offsite trips take you to natural water slides, Appalachian Trail backpacking trips, canoe adventures, and nearby attractions.

  • Community you’ll love. Staff dinners, celebrations, nights off together, local plays, Grandfather Mountain tours, and picnics with our alumni network make you part of a lifelong Holston family.

Location Highlights

Holston Center sits in Banner Elk, NC, between Beech and Sugar Mountains — a tourist destination with stunning scenery, cool summer weather (rarely above 80°), and just 15 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s warm enough to swim and play, but never miserably hot.

When & What You’ll Do

  • Staff Training: Day camp staff arrive May 20, 2026; overnight camp staff arrive May 24, 2026.

  • Time Off: Built-in break the week of the Fourth of July (or choose to work day camp that week for extra pay).

  • Positions Available: Counselors, lifeguards, photographers, kitchen assistants, and adventure leaders.

Our Faith Approach

We believe everyone is welcome at camp and that everyone is loved by God and deserving of love and acceptance. You don’t have to be a theologian; you just need a heart for kids and a willingness to lead small-group devotions.

What You’ll Gain

  • Leadership, communication, problem-solving, and outdoor skills employers value.

  • A supportive alumni network and invitations to fall weekends, holiday dinners, and ongoing community events.

  • A transformative summer that will shape your personal, spiritual, and professional growth.

“Holston helped me become a more creative, positive, and loving person. Seeing campers have fun in nature is truly a happy feeling.” — Lindsey, 2020 Counselor
